چکیده

Using the NIRSPEC spectrograph at Keck II, we have obtained infrared echelle spectra covering the range 1.5− 1.8 μm for the moderately reddened bulge globular clusters NGC 6342 and NGC 6528, finding [Fe/H]=–0.60 and –0.17 dex, respectively. We measure an average α-enhancement of ≈ +0.33 dex in both clusters, consistent with previous measurements on other metal rich bulge clusters, and favoring the scenario of a rapid bulge formation and chemical enrichment. We also measure very low C/C isotopic ratios (≈5 in NGC 6342 and ≈8 in NGC 6528), suggesting that extra-mixing mechanisms due to cool bottom processing are at work during evolution along the Red Giant Branch.

The Chemical Composition of Red Giant Branch Stars in the Galactic Globular Clusters Ngc

We present radial velocities and chemical abundances for red giant branch stars in the Galactic bulge globular clusters NGC 6342 and NGC 6366. The velocities and abundances are based on measurements of high resolution (R & 20,000) spectra obtained with the MMT–Hectochelle and WIYN–Hydra spectrographs. We find that NGC 6342 has a heliocentric radial velocity of +112.5 km s (σ = 8.6 km s), NGC 63...

Photometry of the reddened bulge globular clusters NGC 6528 , Terzan 5 , Liller 1 , UKS 1 and Terzan 4 ⋆

We present results from NICMOS Hubble Space Telescope observations of the reddened bulge globular clusters NGC 6528, Terzan 5, Liller 1, UKS 1 and Terzan 4, obtained through the filters F110W (1.1 μm) and F160W (1.6 μm) (nearly equivalent to J and H). For the first time the turnoff region of Liller 1 and the main sequence of Terzan 5 and Terzan 4 are reached, as well as the horizontal branch of...

High resolution infrared spectra of NGC 6440 and NGC 6441 : ⋆ two massive Bulge Globular Clusters

Using the NIRSPEC spectrograph at Keck II, we have obtained infrared echelle spectra covering the 1.5 − 1.8 μm range for giant stars in the massive bulge globular clusters NGC 6440 and NGC 6441. We report the first high dispersion abundance for NGC 6440, [Fe/H]=−0.56±0.02 and we find [Fe/H]=−0.50±0.02 for the blue HB cluster NGC 6441. We measure an average α-enhancement of ≈ +0.3 dex in both cl...

F eb 2 00 1 An Abundance Analysis for Four Red Horizontal Branch Stars in the Extremely Metal Rich Globular Cluster NGC 6528

We present the results of the first analysis of high dispersion spectra of four red HB stars in the metal rich globular cluster NGC 6528, located in Baade’s Window. We find that the mean [Fe/H] for NGC 6528 is +0.07± 0.01 dex (error of the mean), with a star-to-star scatter of σ = 0.02 dex (4 stars), although the total error is likely to be larger (∼ 0.1 dex) due to systematic errors related to...

1 High resolution infrared spectra of bulge globular clusters : Liller 1 and NGC 6553

Using the NIRSPEC spectrograph at Keck II, we have obtained echelle spectra covering the range 1.5 − 1.8 μm for 2 of the brightest giants in Liller 1 and NGC 6553, old metal rich globular clusters in the Galactic bulge. We use spectrum synthesis for the abundance analysis, and find [Fe/H] = −0.3 ± 0.2 and [O/H] = +0.3± 0.1 (from the OH lines) for the giants in both clusters. We measure strong l...
